May Momentum Challenge - Finding Your Style

Hi there painter friends! I’m hoping you’ll join me for the month of May, to take part in an online painting challenge. I’m in between teaching classes, and I’ve been working on the business end of art and neglecting my painting time. Too much time on the computer figuring out tech problems and not enough time moving that brush and lovely paint around! When I don’t paint, I get a bit terse and cranky. I’ve got to have that paint time in my life. And I’m seeing several of my students who are really wanting some more painting time in their lives, too!

So - how does this work? We’ll be posting everything in my Facebook group, ‘Traveling Light with Watercolor’. If you’re not a member, just ask to join and we’ll let you right in!

Welcome to the May Momentum Challenge.jpg

No rules other than to have fun, keep it simple….and throw away that crazy bag of perfectionism you’ve been stashing in the corner over there. Yeah, let that go!

The point is to get you painting in between classes. Or in between what ever you’re stuck between (rock and a hard place?).

Post it in the Traveling Light with Watercolor group on Facebook group and comment what day/category you’re painting for. These categories are broad enough to get clever, but all you have to do is get your brush moving in that paint.

If you are on instagram,, post it there, too with the #travelinglightwithwatercolor so we can find it!

Post/comment on your fellow painters entries to encourage them and keep our engagement up!

As painters, we begin to ‘find our style’ by painting every single day until it becomes as natural as breathing.

If you get interrupted and/or miss a day, just jump back in where you are! Keep it small and simple if you are feeling over-whelmed. For example - on the days that there is a color prompt like ‘purple’ you could go as elaborate as you wish, or just keep it simple with dots, dashes and lines. Just show up to the paper that day, move that brush on your paper, and share it with the group. Your friends here are waiting to cheer you on! Feel free to share this with your painting buddies (or those you’d like to be your painting buddies, this is a great place to start).

I look forward to seeing you and your posts in our Facebook group - Traveling Light with Watercolor, or on Instagram!
